Meet our family!
Layla
Breed: Egyptian Arabian
Color: Rabicano
Age: 2/1/2009
Layla is a gorgoeus program horse that thrives with attention. She is so cuddly, you can't help but melt in her presence. Even though relatively new in her education, Layla took all of her training in stride and has now become a very trusted & honest lesson horse, along with competing at a NATRC ride with a student - they did awesome! She loves to move and embraces the trail with style.
Jubilee
Breed: Crabbet Arabian
Color: Bay
Age: 2/19/2010
This beautiful mare came from a loving home that wanted her to be a part of our program, and what a blessing she is! This mare has done endurance, won sweepstakes at the NATRC with a student, and has a dressage background. She's also showing new skills in jumping! She's like a Swiss army knife! New skills unfolding every day. Did I mention she's also sweet and cuddly?
Leroy
Breed: Mule
Color: Dark Bay
Age: 18ish
Leroy was recently donated to our program from Sue and Paul Raab, dear friends of ours, and he has been an abundant blessing! He takes his job very seriously the minute you set foot in the stirrup, and he turns into “man on a mission.” All you have to do is think the command, and he’s doing it! Such a sensitive and responsive guy. The herd immediately took a liking to him, and now he’s part of the motley gang of geldings, clowning their way through the day with rambunctious playing.
Joy
Breed: Arabian cross
Color: Bay
Age: 1/1/2014 ??
Joy was rescued from Wisconsin and is now blooming as a program horse. She had very little education before arriving here, but her sweet demeanor and strong desire for a purpose has expedited her training. Once you ride her, she somehow melts your heart and becomes a top favorite. Joy has already accomplished some dressage, endurance, and natrc, but she loves the arena & easygoing trail rides.
Dante
Breed: POA
Color: Roan
Age: 1/1/2010ish
Dante is a flashy gelding that we rescued from Bowie, TX on April 15, 2025. Like most rescues, we're unsure of his history or actual age, but we discovered he has some solid training already. He has an extra soft spot for kids (the smaller, the better!) and takes his job seriously to keep them safe in the saddle. Dante can creep along at a slow pace, or if demanded to go, can race from 0-60 at a surprising rate. Such a great addition!
Legend
Breed: Arabian
Color: Bay
Age: 20ish
Legend is retired from riding, but still has so much to give for ground and liberty work. Also having come from CHR, he's a friendly and charming guy that will happily greet you in the pasture. He has the sweetest face and loves to show off his fancy arab gait.
Aiden
Breed: Arabian
Color: Gray
Age: 11/24/2020
Sweet Aiden was saved from a dangerous situation over Thanksgiving of 2022. When we picked him up, he was malnourished with neglected hooves and significant lameness. We're happy to say he's made a full recovery, and we'd really, really like it if he'd stop growing... any minute now, please. This "kid" may become the tallest horse on the ranch, but at the moment he looks like a pencil on stilts. An adorable pencil on stilts. He'll be starting his formal education whenever he takes a moment to stop growing.
Ronan
Breed: Quarter Pony
Color: Sorrel
Age: 1/1/2020
Ronan is our latest social butterfly! He is the cutest little pony you'll have the pleasure of meeting. He was donated to us from a loving home that didn't have the training tools to get a halter on him, thus he needed some serious hoofcare, vet work, and we're looking forward to getting some x-rays of his swollen knee. This little guy is sooo smart and we cannot wait to see what his future potential will be!
Horses you'll meet at the ranch, but aren't part of the program:
In Loving Memory

Bentley
Breed: Saddlebred & Arabian, aka National Show Horse
Color: Tri colored Tobiano
Age: mid 20s
RIP: 7/1/2022
Bentley was our treasured one in a million horse. Having been adopted from Colorado Horse Rescue (CHR) and started later in life, he embraced every challenge with style. Trained in jumping, dressage, and limited distance endurance, Bentley always favored trail adventures. We often caught him looking at the trailer with longing for another adventure. He was loved by so many and part of our family for over 13 years! The ranch won't be the same without him. Bentley gave his heart to Anjel Fyre, and when she passed away, we had a feeling he wasn't far behind her.
Anjel Fyre
Breed: Arabian
Color: Gray
Age: 24
RIP: 9/11/21
Anjel was a gorgeous mare that came to us on a long-term lease from a dear friend. This treasure of a lady loved to move and was a great teacher for our advanced and confident students. She came here at 22 years young, and had no intention of slowing down! If anything, she sped up till the very end. Anjel was in a love affair with Bentley, and we like to imagine their joyous reunion in heaven.
Ladybug
Breed: Suffolk Punch
Color: Sorrel
Age: 25
RIP: 7/3/2025
Having risen from a neglectful situation with the amazing efforts of animal control and the Colorado Horse Rescue (CHR), Ladybug thrived with all of the love and attention she received at our ranch. She was the herd matriarch, and they followed her to the moon and back. Her patience and compassion towards people continued to amaze us. She was a fantastic teacher on the ground and in the saddle, and loved the adventure of trail rides. She will be dearly missed.
Dorothy
Breed: Pony Arabian
Color: Bay
Age: 30s
RIP: 3/28/26
Dorothy was the sweetest old lady that took care of everybody, with a spicy twist. We pulled her off the kill lot in Peabody, Kansas on 9/19/21 and she had healed up beautifully from a respiratory infection, parasite load, and emaciation. This refined lady knew how to open every gate, hack into every feed bin, and saw herself as the herd ambassador for every new rescue addition. You would often find her roaming the front, living in her own Dorothy world of domination. The ranch was hers, and we were just lucky she let us live here. She will be dearly missed, but we knew the end was close when Miles passed away. Those two had a love story that could only be found in children’s novels. We would find them walking side by side to the lake and watch the sunrise together.
Miles
Breed: Mule
Color: Appaloosa
Age: 30s
RIP: 12/11/25
When we saw a 30+ yr old mule at the local kill pen, we couldn't possibly say no. He was sad, skinny, and had a huge swollen knee. Miles was the epitome of "who saved who?" in rescue - we couldn't imagine the ranch without him! He loved telling us about his day, giving every visitor his undivided attention, and requiring back scratches. He even allowed students to climb on him for a gentle stroll down the road. The ultimate therapy mule! He gave his full and utter devotion to Dorothy. Those two were like an old couple walking hand in hand around the property. We gave them freedom to roam the property every night, and their favorite adventure was walking through the forest, down to the lake, and watch the sunrise together. Then, they would take a nap on the beach, side by side.
